Ancient proverb
The benefits of massage are many some examples are

• Circulation of blood and lymph improves
• The immune system receives a boost
• Waste products that have built up in tense knotted muscles
begin to break down and leave the body
• Regular massage improves skin tone.
There are many conditions that can be eased with massage including
• REPETITIVE STRAIN INJURY:- caused
by overuse of particular muscles which can lead to tension within
that muscle and surrounding ones.
• POOR POSTURE: - perhaps due to leaning over the laptop
for long periods of time or picking up young but heavy toddlers.
• STRESS:- stress causes tension and disrupts all your body
systems; it affects your breathing, circulation and digestion.
It shows in your skin and on your face. You can feel it in your
muscles particularly the upper back, shoulders and neck
• STIFFNESS & MUSCLE TENSION
• ACHES AND PAINS IN MUSCLES AND JOINTS
• ANXIETY
• INSOMNIA
Massage provides
• STRESS RELIEF
• RELAXATION
• IMPROVED MOBILITY
• IMPROVED CIRCULATION AND ACTS AS A DETOX
• RELIEF FROM PAIN
The above are only examples to give you an idea
In cases with long term chronic conditions one massage may be give
some comfort but will probably be working along side orthodox or
other complementary therapy.
It may also mean that a series of visits will be needed to give
a more long term affect.

Definitions
These are my interpretations of some of the terminology I use.
Holistic Approach
The caring of the person as that unique, dynamic individual. The
approach takes into account the physical, psychological, emotional,
and spiritual health of the person and, also, their social, cultural
and economic climate enabling the therapist to gain some understanding
of the complete person. It does not preclude conventional medicine
and works alongside it; however, it tends to look at the cause as
well as the symptoms
Complementary Therapy
A non medical approach used alongside conventional remedies. There
is a healthy choice of complementary therapies available and one
or more may be best tailored to suit that person. It is not as prescriptive
as orthodox treatment and can be more empowering.
Aromatherapy
The term aromatherapy is derived from the French word “aromatherapie.”
Nowadays using modern science and research Essential Oils are extracted
from the plant kingdom and used therapeutically to enhance an individual’s
physiological and psychological well being. The therapy is complementary.
The oils’ aromas are inhaled or applied to the skin. Each
oil used alone or in combination can address a specific condition
or emotion. The body is able to utilise the healing properties of
the oils either through the olfactory system or penetration of the
skin. Used correctly, and in combination with massage, the holistic
properties of the oils mean that appearance, mood, and health can
be enhanced; tension, stress and fatigue reduced; the spirit can
be lifted; aches and pains decreased.
Essential Oil
“An essential oil is a volatile material derived by physical
process from an odorous plant material of a single botanical form
or specials” (Actander S, 1994) In other words:-An Essential
Oil is an oil which can evaporate easily. It is extracted from materials
in the plant kingdom and has a natural fragrance. It is extracted
by gradual changes through a series of states of the plant material,
most commonly by distillation, but not always. They are Nature’s
gift to us. The word “essential” is considered to have
come from the term “quintessence” coined in the 16thC
by Bombastus Paracelsus von Hohenheim. He believed it was the purest
extract of a plant. They are pure and potent and capture the “life-force”
of the plant; Nature’s herbal medicine. They are diluted,
in vegetable oil, before use.
The Consultation
At the initial visit extra time is booked for a full consultation
so that I can be assured that you get the best possible treatment.
The consultation reflects the type of treatment you are receiving
i.e. complementary or beauty. At subsequent visits this consultation
is reduced I just need to know if anything has changed since my
last visit. All information is in confidence and safely stored.
Products
I source my products from reputable companies and would be pleased
to answer any questions about them.
